US Dept of Agriculture Skin Measurement Calipers
The US Department of Agriculture came to Kickr needing to reverse engineer a manual measurement device they use which is no longer available. The calipers are used to measure the reactions of animals to specific chemicals. The chemical is injected under the animal’s skin and then a fold of skin is measured with these special calipers before and after the injection. If the animal has a reaction to the chemical, the before/after measurement will show swelling.
We reverse-engineered the device and produced a few prototypes for testing, which worked perfectly. We are currently engaged to manufacture a few thousand of measurement devices for the USDA to use in the field.
